Subject: Interesting ...
So, the wire goes dead.
In 10 years on Tango-L, this is the first time I've seen it thus (a word one
uses when writing, not speaking. But, I'm talking to yous now, eh?).
Not only was the deafening silence broken, but there was a little interest -
even passion - in the notes in the last 24 hours. Pity the poor person who
doesn't understand there are rules.
I can understand the people who don't want to see the rules broken.
I do smile in agreement with the ones who don't care - given the
circumstances - and want to encourage the new people who aren't aware (so to
speak).
It isn't as if we are being flooded with 100 Tango-L emails a day ...
I have the feeling that things are in flux in our communities. Change has
been confounding.
Well, that's better than nothing happening at all.
We're watching a phenomenon (tango) grow while it also attains some
maturity.
Maturity is more boring than rapid expansion.
Growth is then not so noticeable, sometimes. Background as opposed to
foreground.
I'll bet if the circumstances were right, 200 people could post messages to
Tango-L about how things have morphed in odd/interesting/challenging ways in
their communities in the last 12 months.
But it is quite understandable that no one wants to. We all know a little
more now and knowledge can be a barrier to ... many things.
If I were to be bold, I could write a few hundred words on how things have
changed mightily - even disconcertingly - in my local community over the
last few months, for example.
No matter how long the story got, it would still make for envy as the
conclusion came, perhaps. None of us here (where I live) is looking for that
just because we have it so - good - no matter what.
I just wish to say that I have been pleased that Tango-L has been so much
more civilized in the last few years and though becalmed of late, I for one
am still here and all eyes/ears.
We don't always need the flurry, do we?
This is like 3/4 of the way through a song when everything goes calm and
contemplation is called for.
I am wishing you all have beautiful tango moments in the next few days ...
