This is a summary of what this film is about which was released in Buenos
Aires and Madrid on May -07-2004 - (some members of our group consider that
it deals with tango philosophy)
La Ballena y la puta - The whale and the whore -
She did not know when or how but she lost the beat of her steps, she run
aground.
A marital crises, the discovery of a breast lump, her intention to write
stories based on pictures of an Argentinean who died in the Spanish Civil
War, precipitated her escape.
She undergoes a mastectomy in Buenos Aires. It is there that she finds some
clues to write her next story. She wishes to unravel the mystery of a whale
that ran aground twice, or perhaps that of a chorist girl that became a
prostitute in Patagonia while following a photographer.
These are mere excuses to find herself again, to encounter who she used to
be.
Alone, at the end of the world, she will fall in love with a stranger, right
on the brothel bed, where the main characters of the novel she is writing,
had sworn they were never to fall in love.
She will dance a tango with lady death and will bury her past in the ocean
depths.
Sinopsis
Sin saber cuando ni csmo, Vera perdis el paso: esta varada. Su crisis
matrimonial, el descubrimiento de un bulto en su mama, junto a la propuesta
de escribir los epmgrafes de las fotos de un argentino muerto en la Guerra
Civil Espaqola precipitan su escape. En Buenos Aires se realiza una
mastectomma y es allm donde comienza su encuentro con los indicios
fundamentales que la impulsaran a escribir su prsxima historia. Desentraqar
el misterio de una ballena que se vars dos veces o de una corista que se
prostituye en la Patagonia siguiendo los pasos de un fotsgrafo son sslo
excusas que le serviran para reencontrarse con quien alguna vez fue. Sola en
el fin del mundo, se enamorara de un desconocido en la misma cama de burdel
en la que los protagonistas de su novela juraron no enamorarse nunca,
bailara un tango con la muerte y enterrara el pasado en las profundidades
del mar.
