Hello to all on list,

Sorry; I never have much time for timely replies, but a few thoughts on
recent subjects;

Type of dance to tango music; While tango (the dance) can be considered
very structured, any possible step that works and follows the rules is a
tango step. If a leader can lead it with his upper torso/chest, while in
close or open embrace, or parallel or crossed feet, its a tango step. I
don't care whether it came from salsa, lindy, or country, the leader can
make it a tango step. That's one of the many wonderful things about
tango; there are no steps, just infinite possibilities. As far as
"mixing" other dance steps with tango, if it works, go for it!! THERE
ARE NO "TANGO "STEPS.

Music? Who cares? I love tango music. Di Sarli, D"arienzo, Piazzola,
Pugliese...its all great music, some for listening, some for dancing.
And if you want to dance to Piazzola, that's great, but please don't
expect to find it at a milonga. It's music for listening, not dancing,
as Piazzola said. Yes, some few want to dance to it, but do it in the
privacy of your own home, and for the DJ's; please keep it there, too! I
love the music, but its not for dancing.

But, and this a very large BUT; I feel the blues; the good ,downhome,
rock, country, southern folk/blues. And when I get home from the
milonga, this is what I want to hear, and feel, and experience! I won't
play it at the milonga; ok maybe really late!

So, when the milonga is happening; play DiSarli, D'Arienzo, Troilo,
Canaro.

Music to dance to? Anything with a beat, a feeling; what did you grow up
with? What really gives you that shiver? What do you really feel? When
you are on your own floor of oak, with control over your own music, what
do you play? I love dancing tango (and I mean real tango) to so many
other types of music. "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. "Slave" by the
Stones. "Rock and Roll Hero" by Cindy Kalmenson, Sarah McLachlan, Karen
Savoca...Vanessa Peters.....

Give me a beat, and a backbeat...cool!!!

Love the feeling; the connection, building a mystery!

Yeah; build a mystery,,,,,if you'll only let yourself....

Regards,,,,,,,Michael from Texas
