Most tango terms seem to be readily translatable from Spanish to English, and their meanings make sense, but I can't seem to find =
anywhere what the meaning of 'boleo' is. I know what a boleo is, but what does the word mean? Can any Spanish speakers help me out? Thanks!

Let's try a very simple explanation:
1. Step
"v" is spoken in spanish as "b". B is spoken as b. People who cannot
write well often confuse b and v and write everything like they hear it,
and this is always "b".
So "boleo" should be correctly spelled "voleo". "Bolear" comes from
"Bola", the ball and has nothing to do with thisone.
2. Step

1. m. Golpe dado en el aire a algo antes de que caiga al suelo, y,
en especial, golpe que se da a la pelota antes que haga bote.
2. m. Movimiento rapido de la danza espaqola, que consiste en

3. m. Bofetsn dado como para hacer rodar por el suelo a quien lo recibe.
4. m. coloq. Ur. Puqetazo o puntapii que se da para castigar o
amedrentar.
Definition 2 is the one pretty close to the Tango movement called "boleo"
"quick movement in the spanish danse, consiting in rising a foot in
front as high as possible"

I like the simplicity and veracity of that.
The similarity of the pronunciation of B and V in Spanish is legendary. It
reminds me of a gentleman who went to a hotel in, I think, San Diego. At
registration, he was asked, in English, his name. He replied "Velasquez". The
clerk was rather slow. "How do you spell that?" he asked. Mr Velasquez replied
"With a V, as in cow".
