Lucia "Curvas Reales",

I do not think it is very ethical to discredit young, talented, and hard-working professionals because they are not overweight like you are. You obviously have a complex with slender persons, and your comment that only older, fat people can dance tango well is the same as saying that only young, thin people can dance tango well. Pure ignorance. That was exactly the point Anton and Natalie were trying to get through with their Tango Argentino performance. That the dancers in that show were not young and slim, but normal, regular people like you and me. I suggest that the next time you think of discrediting a young couple who is doing a lot of good for this dance, you think again, because you stepped far out of line here.

Good day,

Juan Bruno Ordonez

P.S. - The fact that you feel it necessaary to discredit the very dancers that will be the future of tango, speaks very much of your person. Not the kind of person tango needs.

Isn't it amazing that as soon as one individual
expresses an opinion they get bulldozed straight away?
Do we all have to gloat at somebody just because they
have done a lot of hard work? Quantity can change into
Quality, that's true, but it can go into Inferior
Quality as well as into Superior Quality. I certainly
have not seen the couple in question, but, generally
speaking, I have noticed, over the years, that the
cute, nimble, well-rehearsed kids from Bs As we keep
getting as representatives of the tango throughout the
world have NO FEEL! They just move like zombies, going
through [slick] motions to impress those who have no
taste. Are they to "be the future of tango"?

Cheers,

Andy.

While her opinion was somewhat harsh, I don't see why she should be attacked
for having one.
It seems like people can only say good things about "famous" tango dancers
without being attacked.
This is a shame, since it means that we can never have a real discussion.
(A la, "I disliked his absolute adherance to the melody of the music, even
though the interpretation was interesting. It meant that sometimes he was
dancing busier than I think he should have been.") Then we can have a back
and forth.

That is so true ! I do not want to say much about Anton, as I spent hours
after the lessons talking about tango with him and enjoyed that , but yes,
his collection of rare old tango videos is large, he studies those moves
with Natalie, works very hard on becoming a good dancer and I appreciate
that, but I agree: in spite of all his lecturing on "authentic" tango, my
idea of "authentic" is a little different. Sure, I was not there in the
50ies and do not have all those videos, but I believe, being told by
Natalie: "Ladies, don't ever put your arm around both shoulders of the man,
don't ever put your hand on the back of his neck, all these embraces hinder
movement, keep it a strict V, keep your left hand on his biceps or behind
his right shoulder, and keep your other arm stretched out in an arc on
shoulder's level" is not really my idea of "authentic" tango either. As for
"no feel", I prefer not to comment, but calling Anton "James Bond" is rather
off. Di Caprio is sexier than that, and Di Caprio is not my type...
A German mag has an interview with Natalie on enjoying dancing with the
Queen of Lez-tango (Lexa or what was her exotic name?) in NY, because "she
is such a nice leader".
