Subject: Lunfardo today in Buenos Aires

Dear friends from tango list

Lunfardo as used in tango scripts, was a language used by thieves and prisoners , altogether with a mixture of foreign words that inmigrants brought with them from their countries ( beginning of XX century )

Actually , year 2005 , there are stil thieves and prisoners , and they used new words , or words that represent what is happening today. There are not too many tango scripts with this subjects . Maybe some scripts from Acho Estol from La Chicana tango group.

Follow some expressiones used at 31 Jail of Ezeiza, a special women unit, for women with good behaviour that are reassigned from other (worse) jail units. Also pregnant women that are allowed to gave birth and keep their babies with them .

Jail 31 is not so far from Ezeiza airport , a common place for foreigners arriving to Argentina. What is ironic or tragic, is the inmates of this prison are in many cases, convicted for breaking drug law , usually as "mules" since the fashion at Ezeiza is to hire a little"mule" to take some envelopes with cocaine, then an anonymous call is made to the police, and when they arrest the little mule, the real mule smuggles in briefcases the real cargo.
