Subject: The Milongas in BsAs NEED us now!
Janis Kenyon wrote:
There are usually about 130 milongas per week in the capital federal. These
days you're lucky to find one or two open each day. This is a serious
situation for those whose only income is derived from working in the
milongas. I know one waitress who worked 50 hours a week in Lo de Celia to
support herself and her teenage son. Now she has no job. Lo de Celia may
never open again.
Our prayers are with Lo de Celia. I agree, IMHO, this is my favorite milonga
in BsAs and I cannot bear the thought that it may be gone forever. In fact
the loss of so many of these milongas, (not only Celia's) will affect each and
every one of us all over the world who love and dance the tango. We are all
connected and the loss of this link, the strongest link in the tango chain,
will weaken the entire web of tango which envelopes us all! Each and every one
of us, good and bad dancers, proud and humble personalities, fanatic and
casual dancers, traditional and alternative music lovers, stage and social
styles..... WE ARE ALL MAKE UP THE TANGO . Let's get going and make it happen!
Maybe someone with alot of money will fund the addition of a fire escape so
it can reopen. I know that most people do not have the money, but, as in any
situation like that, there are still alot of people with excess money.
Especially the visitors from other countries. Believe me, lots of money is there,
if only someone could connect with it. Time to call in the calvary!!!!!
Anyone out there with ideas....with money...with connections??? Let's help
with this problem....Let's be part of the solution !
Thanks for listening.
