Subject: More Positive Subject...How is Argentine Tango actually taught in Buenos Aires ??
Dear Sergio and All:
More positive subject...
How is Argentine Tango actually taught in Buenos Aires
historically, starting with the very young children at
the age of 6 years or so? I understand that the
emphasis is to teach a student how to be a creative
person, instead of just someone who memorizes dull
repetitive patterns or figures. These patterns are
mostly just for export.
Also, I have heard that the idea is that a twenty year
old will have danced tango at milongas for 14 years,
so their experience on the dance floor learning to be
flexible is quite extensive.
Finally, I hear that true milongeros just absorb the
feeling of the dance from the culture and learn moves
from people they admire who they see dancing on the
dance floor. They may take a lesson from them on the
spur of the moment, to share some knowledge, as
friends, rather than professionals.
Is this how it really works? I would love to hear
about the history of all of this if anyone has
comments to contribute. Thank you.
