NATIONAL TANGO DAY in BUENOS AIRES - Buenos Aires, December 12, 2003. Todo
Tango Club.

Porteņos enjoyed an amazing Tango Day with Tango events all around the city.
Different styles of "tangueros" found their own unique ways to pay tribute
to their passion. From traditional to modern, dancers and collectors and
even dancing in a Tango Rave, every enthusiast found a way to party.
The NATIONAL TANGO DAY remembers Carlos Gardel's birthday and is the perfect
excuse for the Tango Capital of the world to celebrate this classic genre.
113 years ago Carlitos was born and he was sure smiling in heaven yesterday
as porteņos, young and old, danced "Por una cabeza" in the streets.

People flocked to the Carlos Gardel Museum in "el Abasto" where they ate a
big, delicious, 6 feet tall cake and remembered Gardel, a neighbour who live
there in the late twenties.
As part of the Young Tango Festival, modern tangueros visited a Tango themed
fashion display in Recoleta and even partied in a late night tango rave in
Corrientes and Suipacha.

Tango was king for a day in Buenos Aires and afficionados gathered close to
"el obelisco" that was used as a movie screen where images and movies of the
Tango legends where projected, including a moving homage to the great Tita
Merello.

Tango orchestras such as El Arranque and trio Los Interpretes played in the
street where hundreds of coupled danced milongas.

The celebration ended with amazing fireworks over Corrientes. The electronic
sounds of Bajofondo Tango Club started the "young" party of hundreds that
danced all night long.

2003 was a comeback year for Tango, that is proudly back in all the hearts
of the porteņos.
