Cleveland has now hosted two Out Door Milongas
I have to say the ambiance of the evening can't be matched.
We have found a park that allows us to dance under the stars, and The near by
restaurants allow us to use the bathrooms facilities and purchase food and
snacks. The first night we danced on the concrete, but the second night we
moved to where the sidewalk was made of brick, and found it much easier to
dance on.
The trees are decorated with small lights like Christmas, plus we bring our
own candles in wind protected glasses. Then, there is the Moon!
People you have to change your style of dance when your not on a wood dance
floor. Concrete and brick are unforgiving when doing pivots. In fact you
can't, so don't even try. Your knees and other joints will ack, and you must
protect them if you want to dance all night. Ladies, don't allow a man to
lead you into pivots and ochos. I find the club or Milonguero style of dance
works the best on brick. This is not a night to show off, just socialize and
get to know your friends better.
It's funny that I would never think that the sounds of the police sirens
going down the street could add to a milonga but it does.
