Today at Clarin Newspaper appear an article in spanish, concerning Don
Osvaldo Pugliese and his legacy .
Don Osvaldodied on July 25th, 1995 , being 90 years old.

I would translate the part of Planet Pugliese, because it brings some update
to recent changes in musicians from
Color Tango orchestra ( in fact ,a split of the formation into two ¨Color
Tango´)

The orchestra conducted by his daughter Beba, pianist.

The quartet conducted by his granddaughter Maria Carla, also pianist.


The bandoneonist, son of Osvaldo Ruggiero -the mytical " fueye" and composer
of the orchestra-.

One orchestra Orquesta Color Tango, under the lead of bandoneonist Roberto
Alvarez.

Another Orquesta Color Tango, undear the lead of contrabass Amílcar
Tolosa.

The singer Abel Córdoba.

The refreshed formation of the legendary Sexteto Tango.

...And the dutch formation Sexteto Canyengue, and the formation Arrabal,
and the young orchestra Fernández-Fierro, just to mention some of the most
renowned cases.

At this time , the group lead by Roberto Alvarez -bandoneonist and author of
around twentyfive arrangements for the tipica of Pugliese- is landing at
Holland to join the festival Tangomagia 2001. The" Chacarero" -nickname
applied to Alvarez by Pugliese- proudly says : "We follow the example of
Osvaldo in all senses: from the point of view of the organization , because
we are a cooperative , and form the point of view of the music, becuase we
follow the style to death. I wear the Pugliese shirt , and will keep it on
until I stay alive, I could not be able to pay music in another way. I some
way , we continue his teachings: I tried to transmit the style to a new
generation of young people , which today are first class musicians ".

During september next year , this formation of Color Tango will made an
european tourneé - tribute that will begin in Finland and will continue
thorugh Holland, Italy , and maybe Spain. Lead by the vwidow of the
musician, Lidia Pugliese , this "embassy" is will be completed with the
singer Abel Córdoba (who was part of Pugliese´s orchestra for more than 30
years) and the violist Merei Brain (more than two decades ), and will
include dancers Mirta and Lalo Díaz -residents in Amsterdam- and the Sexteto
Canyengue.

On the other hand , the contrabass Amílcar Tolosa, one of the funders of
original Color Tango, recently broken ties from it , reorganized his own
Color Tango with musicians from other Pugliese stages such as Juan Carlos
Zunini, Cristian Zárate and Horacio Romo, and the former Pugliese Julio
Hermes Peressini.

"The other" Color Tango was presented at the local scenary of Buenos Aires
, at the significant date of december the 2nd, anniversary of the birth of
Pugliese: " We continue playing previous material recorded, such as Gallo
ciego and all that stuff, but it would be important not to get restrained
to that : we already include three arrangements from Cristian Zárate and
may we keep this going on ", says Tolosa. His years with Pugliese -from
the ''78 until ''89- are a lively recall.: "He was a very open man , very
generous , on one hand, and also a strong discipline on the other hand. It
is so much that was produced within his orchestra, and with so a high
quality , that listening just a bit , even lightly, you get scared. So to
continue with his style is a great responsability".
