Subject: Population Center of the USA

I just read in the Lawrence County Record, that U.S. News & World Report of
Aug 6 states that the demographic center of the United States is in Phelps,
Missouri. Phelps is a few miles away from Mt Vernon where I live.

I have said before that Mt Vernon was in the middle of everywhere, now it's
official. The middle of the population anyway.

If there is an equal number of people in all directions from here, I wonder
if tango people would balance also. Wonder if I could say that Mt Vernon
was the Tango Center of the USA with a clear conscience.

Has anyone ever made a tango poll? I know there have been lots of arguments
as to who has the biggest community. We'll have to lobby the census bureau
to include that question in the next census. "Do you or any one in your
household Argentine Tango?"
