ok, here's a relatively obscure question for real
aficionados. on the first tete video in the bridge to
the tango series tete and sylvia dance to a version of
orgullo criollo by pugliese which is faster and
earlier than the version on "from argentina to the
world" or "de caro por pugliese." (it's not laurenz).

am i loco or is this the case? does anyone know where
to get this version?

Hello Robin and other afficianados -

Pugliese only recorded Orgullo Criollo in 1956 (assuming my discography is
correct), which is the recording on the "From Argentina to the World" album.
I don't have the video but if you're sure it's not Laurenz, then my bet is
on.......Piazzolla. Piazzolla cut a recording of this song in 1947 and it's
very good (I like it better than Laurenz's), very danceable, and I can see
how it could possibly be mistaken for 40s Pugliese - maybe that's the one on
that video??? You might also check out Salgan but that's a longer shot.
