Subject: Questions re sound setup for (Tango) DJing

Hello,

A quick question for all the (Tango) DJs and others who have experience with sound equipment:

I need to bridge around 100 feet of distance beween my sound source (laptop) and the speakers with a cable (that I still have to get). Should I put this cable between the sound source and the amplifier or between the amplifier and the speakers? I don't need to access the amplifier, during DJing, so that's not an issue.

What type of cable should I be looking for to minimize potential problems with sound quality because of the big distance?

Any comments are appreciated,

Bernhard

Definitely between the amplifier and the speakers. It's a higher grade
and thickness of cable that will be carrying a stronger (amplified)
signal so there will be less signal dropoff over that distance. It's
easy to find cable in that length, just be sure to run it along the
edges of the floor and secure it with some gaffer's tape which will last
longer than masking tape without leaving the gumminess of duct tape.

I run a 200-watt amplifier and ~1/4 inch cables to each speaker (15-inch
two-way).
