Subject: Re: Quitting Tango-L

When I was one of the moderators of Tango-L (until about a year ago), the
commands that Lucy listed still worked. I know the listserver software
has been updated since then, but I do not think these basic subscriber
commands have changed.

To unsubscribe or otherwise change your options, you must think of your
email to the listserver as a command. Do not include anything in the
email other than commands you wish to have acted upon. Do not include
signature blocks, etc. All emails sent to the listeserver are interpreted
as commands.

To unsubscribe completely from Tango-L send an email to the listserver
LISTSERV@MITVMA.MIT.EDU

In the body of your message, write the command and nothing else.

unsubscribe Tango-L

One difference between the documentation for the list and the current
practice is that any commands sent to the listserver now require
confirmation before they become effective. This security procedure
prevents the listserver from acting upon commands with a spoofed address.

After receiving your command, the listserver will immediately send you an
email that requires your response within 48 hours. When the listserve
receives your confirming response, it will then implement your change.

To confirm a command, the standard procedure is to write
ok
in the body of the text and include nothing else.

With best regards,
Steve
