My view on learning tango:

"Stay away from self appointed tango teachers."

You are the customer. Why not just watch someone
dance at a milonga. If you want to dance like them,
"you ask them" to teach you what they know. Do not
let people "tell you" that they are teachers. You
make that decision yourself.

Hi Chris,

Perhaps you'd be interested in a system based on radians rather than
degrees... Just think of the wonderful symmetry that would result from
"lapices" drawn exactly the length of the radius created by the leg of the
leader as he draws his lapiz. Now imagine the women doing their ochos in
multiples of radians... It would be much simpler and mathematically precise.
Hey, maybe some teacher could develop the system complete with drawings,
illustrations and a handy internet course of study including highly
compressed video files. Perhaps he or she could also include some cardboard
templates with the appropriate circles, arcs and lines drawn in. This way
the student could practice with great accuracy, even while sitting in from
of the computer. ;-)

Didactically,

Manuel

I did a post on my blog on New Year's Eve last year...it's called
"Musicality Resurrected"...I thought it would be interesting to watch
different dancers (eleven that I included) and how they all interpret the
music of the same song - Francisco Canaro's "Poema"...
