Subject: regular partner necessary?

Hi all,

Great discussions so far.

I started tango without a partner, and it s never really been a problem in terms of progress or practice. In fact, I d like to think that overall, I ve done okay in a relatively short span of time (almost 2 yrs). I certainly dance often enough at milongas. :)

But my question is this: as a follower gets better, is there a point when she should consider finding a regular partner? Should she?

It doesn t preclude dancing with others at practicas, classes, or milongas. Nor does it take the place of practicing the basics alone, like balance, posture, walking and pivoting. But even so, I can t help but notice that virtually all of the good dancers in my community *do* have regular partners, so I m wondering if, in general, I would become better by finding someone at or above my level to practice with.

Thanks,
Linda
