Subject: Robert Duvall commendation
Dear friends from Tango list
Robert Duvall has been commended by the Academia Nacional del Tango of Argentina as member of the Academia , due to his long commitment and cooperation with Tango .
Also the Foundation Academia Nacional del Tango , has commended Mr.Duvall with the membership as cultural ambassador of Tango , considering all the efforts Mr.Duvall is doing in USA with Tango .
This commendments were decided some time ago, but it was announced yesterday , when Mr. Duvall arrived to Argentina . There is not a scheduled date for the ceremony of commendation, but the person in charge of press communications at the Academia Nacional del Tango , Nicholas Tozer, whom I have just talked by phone , consider that this maybe on the first week of september , when Mr.Duvall will present in Buenos Aires "Assasination Tango", the film he made with Francis Ford Coppola.
Warm regards

Dear friends from Tango list
I receive comments complaining about the commendation of Robert Duvall from the Academia Nacional del Tango , saying also that he is not the one and only american cooperating to promote the Tango in USA:
I would like to make clear that my posting about Robert Duvall, was not my personal opinion about the qualifications of Mr Duvall to receive or not a commendation.
I just comment, what Mr.Nicholas Tozer , Press Secretary of the Academia Nacional del Tango , commented by phone ,i.e. Mr.Duvall was commended as member of the Academia, and separately as Cultural Ambassador of the Fundacion Academia Nacional del Tango .
Any selection is open to criticism , as one american businessman once said " each time I have to choose between 11 person to appoint a new vicepresident , I have 10 people unsatisfied, and one ingrateful person"
I do not know personally Mr. Duvall, I have seen him at local milongas in Buenos Aires , and he was a plain guy , one more embedded into the group of dancers of the night. If this is considered my personal commendation, let it be considered this way.
I include some information about the Academia Nacional del Tango, since this organization receives requests to have counterpart academies at other places of the world. Nicholas Tozer, the Press Secretary, is a fluent english speaker , journalist and member of the Wallenber Foundation, a guy whom you can contact directly.
Warm regards

Dear list
I'm Juan Fabbri , President & CEO of Solo Tango ,
Esquina Carlos Gardel , The Tango Catalogue , Tangocity.com
and a few more other activities , all them related to Tango .
I'm also President of the Academia Nacional del Tango Foundation and the
one who has promoted designation of Robert Duvall as Academic Ambassador
of the Foundation and Honoris Causa Academic by the Academia Nacional
del Tango.
I agree with the ones who say that there are a lot of other American
citizens that are doing a great job on promoting tango around the world
.
We are not saying Mr. Duvall is the only one ... but by sure he is one
of the ones who deserve this commendation .
I met Mr. Duvall eight years ago at my Club (Almagro). Since then I'm a
witness of his devotion and passion promoting tango, enjoying it on the
way.
As in other activities , when you choose somebody to be honoured , you
are not excluding others who are also qualified , all the opposite ,
you honouring all them in his representation ...
In other words , for us Mr Duvall represents , in a way , all those
American citizens that are helping us on keeping tango alive & healthy
around the world .
Best regards
Juan Fabbri
