Subject: Sublime Flow and Harmony

I wish I could share with you all (but my writing skills are not able) the
exciting sensation that wells up within when you look out on the floor as
you dj and see DOZENS of couples in that very zone.
I'm not referring to just watching people dance and have a good time.
There can be a special movement to the mass of couples with certain kinds of
music - when each couple is in the flow with the same energy; the whole room
is a flow of couples; almost like watching the symmetry of a school of fish
or a flock of birds that all know exactly where they are going in the same
moment.
Without wishing to put a value judgment of any kind on any music, I will say
that the most striking beauty of "mass movement" in unity presents itself
when you play 50's Di Sarli. It happens every time. Everything goes smooth.
Everything is mellow in its intensity. Everything is oddly calm and unified.
When you play the right cuts at the right time, the visual effect for an
observer is breath-taking. Somehow, all the couples seem to feel the same
vibration ... the individuality of expression that is so characteristic and
benign about tango melts like the finest chocolate in your mouth ... into a
gently rolling wave everyone catches and savors. You see it - you feel it.
The effect stays with you.
To see 50 or 60 couples "form one long, continuous flow togetherness,
harmony, and interplay" is simply one of the finest experiences an
entertainer can have.
I don't know how to end this post ...
But, I would like to think that (cranky on Earth?) don Carlos Di Sarli in
"heaven" eternally wears the smile of a Cheshire cat for the exquisite
harmony and flow his magic wand bestowed on any who can hear and move to his
music. For the rest of time.
My Best Wishes to everyone for 2004!
