Hi Igor & tango list

The DVD you have mentioned is "Susana Tango Pial" a short documentary of 44 minutes made by Sandro Nunziata and Carlos Pico , an argentine tango teacher and a documentary filmmaker.

I have talked with Sandro to greet him for this effor to document a place , and specially old people that are fading into oblivion otherwise.

Two persons of this short movie passed away little time after the film ended his final edition : Juan Carlos, the man that survived several heart strokes, and the other man that have a hip removed and replaced as a prothesis . This second man says with his humble wisdom " you cant go out from a milonga without dancing !" , a good briefing of all the people inside this place.

I went last week veru close to the place where this milonga at El Pial is , and asked permission to enter to the place and have a look. There was a tango lesson just begining , and there were some medium age people practicing the walking.

The room is big , and the dancing floor is a bit higher than the rest of the room, so you have to step on from your table to go to dance. The DJ cabin is at the opposite side of the entrance , and I saw it as the wooden cabin of the helm man of a ship , that has to take their dancers across the nights and the desire to dance , with the waves of Di Sarli, Troilo, D Arienzo, Pugliese, D Agostino Vargas, Quinteto Pirincho ,Cals and Tanturi , to mention the main currents that shake this Tango Sea

warm regards

Good clip, nice dancing. In Portland it is the same, and I love it.

It looks, though, like everybody in the room dance very similarly as if they
copy one another. It is definitely a style - closed circuit of people
dancing with each other start to dance in the same way.

Just yesterday I have seen a professionally produced documentary movie shown
at one of the latest BA festivals. On DVD.

It is called something like "Susana de Piel", and copyright year is 2003.
I will know the details a little bit later and give it to you.

It is a documentary about one of the Buenos Aires milongas and its regular
dancers.

All participants are old. Very old.
What a diversity of styles and techniques! What a great dancing!
This is a breathtaking movie telling so much about tango - its technique,
feel, and people dancing it.
This movie is extraordinary.

PS
And yet it is far from covering all styles..
