I spent this last weekend in New York City and wanted to say how wonderful I found my adventures there. I particularly enjoyed my visit to Chelsea Market, the indoor venue for Saturday afternoon dancing during the colder months. If you are thinking of visiting, I highly recommend it.

Chelsea Market is a terrific artistically conceived space located on 9th Avenue between 15th and 16th. After you enter you begin to wend your way down the irregular hallway, past a fragrant flower shop and yeasty bakeries. There are specialty shops of every variety, from soup to lobster, Thai to Italian. Go all the way to the end of the long hallway, and there you will find a smallish open area and a crowd of dancers and spectators. I found the dancing quite nice, the people friendly and the floor very navigable. Happily, the wonderful Robin Thomas was DJ for the day. As those of you who have been lucky enough to attend a milonga at which Robin was responsible for the music, it was superb.

The organizers (the people from Triangulo) set up sound equipment, and dancing starts at 4:00. I believe the location switches to Central Park at the Shakespeare statue when the weather gets a bit warmer. I've danced there, too, and had a wonderful time. Check the Web site for details and directions, https://www.newyorktango.com/.

Happy dancing,
