Subject: Tango in Japan

Does anyone know the equivalent English terms in Japan for "milonga" and
"practica" ? I've heard that milongas are called "dance parties". Is that
correct? But what are practicas called?

Yes, milongas are called "dance party" or "tango party", or, if it is a
bigger thing, "event" maybe.
Practicas are not clearly distinct from lessons here, they are called "free
practice" in one place, "group lesson" in another, "party" in another, and
"practica" in yet another. And sometimes a milonga is called a milonga too.
One place in the suburbs calls their monthly milonga "tango orillero".
