Subject: Tango lessons

I agree with Astrid and Daisy on their suggestions to work around the gender imbalance in tango classes. I have attended one workshop and one class where experienced stand-by dancers were on hand to work with women who were on the sidelines at a given point. It has given me incentive to resume taking classes. It was getting to the point where I just show up at events and hoped I would learn new embellishments or steps there because classes were getting boring and discouraging (from having to stand around).

I had also lucked out for awhile (indirectly related to the gender problem) where I was the sole student at an intermediate level and I had the instructor to myself. It frankly turned out to be private lessons. This has really spoiled me. As soon as my finances allow for it, I want to take private lessons or want to work out a barter (I am a commercial writer and a skillful cook). I say that only half tongue in cheek because the gender imbalance has really driven me bananas. :-)
