Dear friends from Tango list
It is very difficult to establish clear connections with black people and Tango music in Argentina .
Also it is not good to say "I have a book from an author named Wilde that says that all payadores were black " because this is a part of the truth. I mean, this Wilde wrote a book and saw people , do we have to conclude that this man was clever enought to meet the infinite in the palm of his hand ?? I think , he do no meet all the payadores of the provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Rios ,Santa Fe . It is too much for a man . Also from Uruguay country, where they are pleny of payadores.
Now , let s be patient with ourselves and do not start an ethnic battle. To say black people is to say people . The colour of their skins, is a secondary data.
I think is good to read what a researcher wrote about the jewish inmigration and their influence on Tango, because it says a good truth on tolerance.
" So then , ? are we interested to know how and when men and women with a jewish origin and tradition , participate in the singular popular culture of Buenos Aires and Tango in particular ?
? Is it enough to this purpose to quote names ? ? Is for any reason necessary to explain in detail the fundamental basements of "the" jewish culture and to identify if there are specifically jewish ingredients from this culture into the music, literature and plastic arts ?
We do not believe exists something as "the" jewish culture. There are not pure cultures. Not within jewish not within civilized countries. The scents, tastes, garments, music , dance, in short the habits of any population are in no way pures. Everything is, fortunately , " contaminated" .
In our case , the strong inmigrant movements produced from 1890 to 1930 create a new culture , a natural reformulation that imposes the convivence."

As they say you believe what you want to believe. It seems man makes decisions then finds logic to support it.
Obviously "Wilde" could not have met so many of them, this calls to question why we should believe any historian?.
What seems strange dont seem to know the history that is not much older than 100 years old, hard to explain why certain pieces are missing. Now it is hard not see why. ...why is it so important to dilute someone's contribution for any reason, geographical, cultural, racial or whatever. In the end does it really matter?.
Enjoy the dances.
