<<<When I searched for the word Tango the only album that came up was one
called "The Tango Project" a column next to it indicated that the most
frequently downloaded songs off it were Por Una Cabeza and La
Cumparsita. (each song on the site can be downloaded for 99 cents)

When I did a search for La Cumparsita it found an album of Carlos
Gardel titled "100 Anos" as well as another album by Los Indios
Tabajaras called "Serie Platino: 20 Exitos>>>>

The Tango Project is an album issued about 20 - 25 yrs. ago with mostly very
famous tangos (and not all Argentine - like "Jalousie" for ex.) done by a
small ensemble of musicians who made some changes like replacing the
bandoneon with an accordion. OK as maybe an introduction to tango but not so
good for dancing or authenticity - sort of "chamber tangos" but not near as
good as Quinteto Pirincho. I bought it back when there were still no CDs and
liked it but since I discovered better and more authentic tango, and learned
the dance along the way, it has lost some of it's charm.

As to La Cumparsita, there are so many versions all over the world that you
could probably find it in any music catalog. ;-)

Dear List and Tango friends

A friend of mine, Tangringo has made a compilation af Cumparsitas in a CD

one that is been danced by the old Milongueros , that I think it's one of
the most beautiful versions I've ever listen to, any body knows about this
one????

The version of La Cumparsita used in the Raoul Julia movie "Tango Bar" is the Alfredo De Angelis version..

It is on the Reliquias album "Instrumentales Inolvidables" by De Angelis.

Cheers,
