Subject: Tango vs. milonga P.S.
The 2 beats per measure time signature (of milonga) is common in music.
Musicians refer to it as "cut time" or "half time." It gives a bouncy feel
which is perceived as faster.
In tango, one may move or pause as one wishes (in time!). In milonga, I am
one who teaches always step with each beat (or shift weight with each beat
if standing in place). That makes milonga work.
Anyone intimidated by it (many are) should know that when you finally get
your milonga happening your life (and your tango) will be enriched
immeasurably!
