Theo said: "WOW! you dance like a really, really good metallurgist!"

I hear: "Not bad for an engineer." Gee, thanks (I guess). But please
excuse me while I go in the corner to finish my spreadsheet.

I find it interesting that so many technical people are drawn to tango, but
at the same time they are highly sensitive and emotional in ways that their
coworkers would find embarrassing.

Some technocrats actually have been reduced to writing poetry about
tango....hideous as that may seem to anyone who knows them at their day-job.

The human mind has two sides, and for those of us in dance and write poetry,
both sides are fully active. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I just wish some of us would get along better than we do. The world has
enough back bighting and fighting - good grief, can't we just dance together
without all the gossip and harsh words?

And for those who teach dance - there are two ways - one by assertion and
one by love. I am not a teacher, but I teach my own style to the follower
with every dance. I teach without using any words other than heartfelt
praise and gratitude. Is there any other way?

Excuse me, I have to go finish my spreadsheet now.

Hi Gibson,

I like what you write. I've come to understand that we have different ideas
and opinions. Although I might not agree with somebody else, I don't need to
be right to be happy. I try to respond with kindness rather than hostility.
I agree with you that harsh words and fighting make hard feelings and
resentments. It would be very nice not to read so many judgmental and
sarcastic posts.

As for your approach to teaching, I think your approach is a good one.
Heartfelt praise and gratitude are excellent show to others, specially our
dance partners. I think a lot of the strife and discomfort that people write
about come from misunderstandings and miscommunications. Thanks for your
good words.
