I believe that Patricia, in typing "El choclo" = "kiss of fire"
was not stating that "Kiss of Fire" is the english translation
of the spanish title "El Choclo" but was referring to the
popular tune from the 40s/50s (?) "Kiss of Fire" that is
set to the melody of "El Choclo".
As such she is not looking for the english translation of the
"El Choclo" words, but the words to the popular tune
"Kiss of Fire".

Kiss of Fire, although I'm familiar w/ El Choclo.
Apparently Kiss of Fire was a big Louie Armstrong
hit. I have a few Armstrong CDs, but I don't
recall ever hearing him play or sing the melody
to El Choclo! Now I want to hear it, if anyone
can send me an mp3 copy.....

As an alternative to mp3, you can hear Louis
Armstrong's "Kiss of Fire" as background music
interspersed through the quirky 2001 Australian film
"Russian Doll", set in Sydney's Russian Jewish
community in Bondi. Although not a huge success, it
starred Hugo Weaving (The Matrix trilogy and the Lord
of the Rings trilogy) and David Wenham (Moulin Rouge
and also the Lord of the Rings trilogy).

I'm relatively new here, and this is my first post to
the list.
I'd like to add something to John's comment: Kullervo
is just the middle name (and also an alias) of the
lyricist who wrote these Finnish words. The entire
name is Tapio Kullervo Lahtinen (Tapio being the first
name, and Lahtinen last name). He has used a lot of
pseudonyms, such as Hilma Jdrvi, Ilpo Kallio,
Kullervo, Pirkko Mdki, Pentti Raunio, and Juhani Sdlv.
The content of these Finnish lyrics is very similar
(almost identical) to the English words in the version
that was sung by Louis Armstrong in 1952.
If you ever have something to ask about Finnish
tangos, I'll be glad to try to help. :)
