Subject: Thanks from Roxanne McKenney; Tango Music Composers

Dear Tango Community,

Roxanne McKenney gave a workshop this weekend in Manchester, NH and expresses her thanks and good wishes below. Many asked about the music and she sends the names of several alternative Tango composers. While not appropriate for the Tango-A list where I posted the workshop, I'll post her thanks and short list here. The music was outstanding as was her workshop. We had a wonderful weekend.

Kind Regards,

Kris Rovell-Rixx

Dear Claudette, Cameron and Dancers,

I wanted to thank all the wonderful people that I had
the opportunity to meet and teach this weekend. I
always enjoy teaching in Manchester but it seemed that
this particular visit revealed a greater interest from
a wider group of people than in previous times. This
may be partly due to ATANH that I just learned this
weekend had been formed and is up and running
smoothly. Organizing tango is always a great thing
for communities as it provides a more regular schedule
of events, etc and I am very pleased for the tango
group here.

The greater part of the success of this weekend is
Claudette Laroche. She has been bringing tango to
Manchester through workshops with Sharna Fabiano and
myself since May 2001. Although the torch of bringing
tango to a particular area is often passed from hand
to hand I do want to express my gratitude to Claudette
for her hard work and dedication. Without her I would
not have met all the truly lovely people of this area
who have laughed with me and shared a bit of
themselves. It has enriched my life and I hope to
have enriched a few in return. Thank you Claudette
and I hope to see all of you again sooner than next
year!

Would you please forward this to your email list or
post it if possible?

Warmly,
Roxanne McKenney

P.S. Some of you wanted to know some of the music I
played this weekend... in addition to the classic
tango music of D'Arienzo and DiSarli I also played
alternative music by Cristina Branco, Pablo Aznar,
Esbroek, Tanghetto, GSpliff, and Cuarteto Almagro.
There is also a group doing some interesting techno
tango called Otres Aires (this I did not play but
might be of interest).
