Subject: Tita Merello passed away today

We have lost another main Tango figure.
It is with deep sorrow to announce that Tita Merello has passed away,
today, December 24th. noon Buenos Aires time at the age of 98. She was
born in San Telmo in a "conventillo" in 1904.

Tita developed her acting and singing (mainly tango) career from 1930 to
the late 70s. Not only did she had a unique voice and way of singing tango,
but she also conveyed her ideas and thoughts in a very different way. Three
generations in my family were able to appreciate Tita's talents. I remember
discussions I had with my grandma or my parents about her. She was very
special.

She was an extraordinary artist, singer. Among her main repertoire you can
find "Se dice de mi". You might have seen part of it in the last version of
the movie "Tango".

I will always remember you "Muchacha".
