Subject: Use of Tango-A vs Tango-L

As is added automatically to the bottom of Tango-L discussion:
LISTSERV@MITVMA.MIT.EDU.

As Randy observes:
 >[T]he Tango-A list has almost as many as Tango-L, and
>you won't insult future costumers by misusing Tango-L.
In fact, many of the same people who have signed up for Tango-L also
belong to Tango-A. precisely because they want to receive announcements
about events and tango-related products. The distinction between Tango-L
and Tango-A allows people to sort their mail and better customize the
information they receive to meet their own needs.

One of the important tricks in using Tango-A is to make sure to use one
the prefixes (but only one):
AASP: EU-E: EU-W: SA: NA-E: NA-C: NA-W: MISC:

For postings without a prefix or with multiple prefixes, the message will
be distributed to a much smaller list, even though most people have signed
up to receive announcements in all categories.

With best regards,
Steve
