"I take very strong offence to the analogy of being
mishandled on the dancefloor, or being slandered by
email as in any way constituting 'rape'.
Luda replied>
Au contraire. It certainly DOES constitute rape, of a
different kind, but just as damaging. If not more so.
Ditto for mind rape. It constitutes the invasion (an
act of aggression, as in war) of one's privacy, or
identity, as the case may be, a sacred right and
valued privilege we enjoy in a free society. As Mr.
Shakespeare stated on this subject: He who steals my
money, steals a worthless thing, but he who steals my
good name, steals the most valuable part of me. Or
something to that effect.
The difference is that on a dance floor:
a) you have willingly agreed to dance with somebody and,
b) can WALK AWAY if it becomes uncomfortable at any time.
Seems like an ENORMOUS difference to me.
"Let's just call thngs what they are...."
We did.
Well, no you didn't. Try getting a lawyer to prosecute a slander case as rape, and see how far you get.
"Do not write to me personally, unless requested. All
other mail will be deleted, unread."
Who'd want to?
I'm simply trying to get those cowards who only ever respond privately to put their comments up publicly. The board moderator (when there was one) suggested that I append this signature after I kept getting attacked in private. You may not like my comments but at least I put them up publicly where you and others can disagree. (And note that I am replying publicly.)

Again, before we argue semantics, it is useful to consult a dictionary on the meaning of the word in question.
Merriam Webtser online has this entry:
Main Entry: 3rape
Function: noun
