I thought "vocabulary" was applied only to a set of spoken swords, but there is another aception referring to vocabulary as

3.vocabulary - the system of techniques or symbols serving as a means of expression (as in arts or crafts); "he introduced a wide vocabulary of techniques" artistic creation, artistic production, art - the creation of beautiful or significant things; "art does not need to be innovative to be good"; "I was never any good at art"; "he said that architecture is the art of wasting space beautifully"

frame of reference - a system of assumptions and standards that sanction behavior and give it meaning

Wether tango social dancing is to be considered as an art or craft, could open another interesting subject. It has all the elements to be considered in that way .
The comment about a frame of reference is also a subject , I notice how difficult is to explaing something to a group of students , using the same "vocabulary" .
I am not sure wether they are already assumptions and standards for tango social dance . Does the teacher understand the "vocabulary " of the students , a vocabulary made with their own bodies when doing the new "figure" to be added to their "vocabulary" . Is it clear for everybody on the class, what is the teacher talking about ?
When the tango teacher says " this figure, is understood ?" , and most students say " yes, yes " do they really understood.
The real vocabulary tango social dancing is at the dancing floors. They are living dictionaries of the "vocabulary" , no matter how many times the teacher explain the figures, if they are not shown at the dancing floors, they have not been acepted for the students , I think .

What could the teacher do ???
Maybe try the Dr. Doolittle4s method ............
