Roberto says that Pablo Einza came up with these steps for Gustavo
Navierra. It was Gustavo along with Chicho who made them famous, but
the actual steps came from Pablo.

The old saying "there's nothing new under the sun" applies to tango as well.
My husband, born in Buenos Aires and dancing tango for 50 years, has been
doing colgadas all those years without realizing someone was going to "invent"
them in the future.
However, when he and his contemporaries were doing (and still do) colgadas,
they execute them elegantly, with subtleness, without any of the "hey, look at
me" exaggeration that's so common on the dance floor today. As the other
old saying goes "less is more".
