We have come a long way since we used to spend weeks and weeks discussing
the pros and cons of the '8 step tango base'.

There were times when any attempt to discuss the feminine and masculine role
in tango were met with stern criticism on the part of women's lib fanatics
that perceived such discussion as a veiled attack on their achievements.
Recently I was surprised to see references from Steve Brown to the 'Neuter
American Tango' or the 'Castrated Tango' I do not know if I am using his
exact words.
Tom Stermitz also referred to the importance of masculine and feminine role
in tango to be able to obtain transcendental experiences, one or two days
ago.

I believe this is extremely important as well as the cultivation of
musicality and feeling as essential aspects of Argentine tango.

The discussion used to be centered mostly in the dance or in tango steps and
figures.

These days we have discussed musicality, milonga codes and tango
transcendental experiences.

We have come a long way, indeed ! I ask myself if any one knows how far away
we still are from reaching Nirvana. :))

Have a very nice day!

To paraphrase one lyric from the Grateful Dead,
What a [short], strange trip it's been. ;o) (for me!)

I love border collies, they are really smart, affectionate & challenging...Kinda like lots of folks here on TL. I've learned so much, a great place to invest in. I saved the posting of luda & jonathans & that type of thing happens fairly frequently here, too cool...

PS: Anyone ever peel a banana starting from the wrong end (the one w/o the stem)? Apparently, primates do it this & I tried this yesterday, for the first time, & its way easier.
