I post this for a friend who is having trouble finding tango in Florence,
Italy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a wonderful experience tangoing in Rome the last week of July; but it
also seemed that most of the venues were closed for the summerI just entered
the search-terms "milonga" and "firenze" on google, and it turned up
numerous hits. Have your friend try that, and good luck!

I wanted to also add, although it was accidentally deleted from my message:
In Rome, I was able to catch the last weekend of milongas at the Giardino
del Tango, before the August break. The dancing was wonderful, and the
people were extremely courteous and friendly. It helped, too, to have run
into my friend Gian Carlo, who I had not seen for 10 years; and who has
taken up tango with the same grace and passion that made him such a
successful ballroom dancer when I knew him in New York City. We both, it
turns out, will be in Buenos Aires at the same time in mid-August!
