Subject: To Criticize or Not to Criticize

In my humble opinion, it is never appropriate to criticize another persons
dance ability at a Milonga. Exceptions would be: if specifically asked, if
there was a prior understanding to this form communciation, or if one dance
partner is blatantly rude, inconsiderate, or dangerous to you and the dance
community, ie. careless thoughtless moves!
A Milonga is a social event and one should respect the standard rules
of order and etiquette. To make the point more apparent, at a party or other
social gathering would it be appropriate to criticize another party member
for their manner or style of speaking or for that matter their accent. Would
you criticize their sense of humor, the way they sat in a chair or the way
walked?(very specific to Tango...No?) One should conduct themselves at a
Milonga as they would at any other social event with politeness and respect.
Embrace and enjoy the company of some individuals and keep your distance from
the less "enjoyable" folks. However, It's always good to keep an open mind,
not be too judgemental and give some people a second chance.
Happy Holiday,
Dan
