I'm passing along the following note from my friend Howard Schler, who
chairs the local swing dance organization. I thought he did a wonderful
job of expressing something important that relates to all of us who dance
socially, and it may be useful food for thought for other event organizers.

Robinne,
Thanks for sharing. It is difficult to know what to go ahead with and
what to cancel. Manuel, Gabriela and I held our classes this week, because
I thought if even one person gains comfort from doing something familiar,
being with the group, etc. that would be important. We are still free, we
have the right to assemble and should continue to honor this liberty. While
it is a personal choice how to mourn, as a community leader we decided to
keep the doors open. We have heavy hearts. Tango is no stranger to sadness,
and black clothing. What has touched me most is the support I have received
from tango friends overseas. I have only heard concern and sorrow from
everyone I have talked to. We all seem united in our grief.
