Did you hear about the guy who collects every La Cumparsita ever recorded?
Well, I'd like to be at every Festival there is in a given year. (As if I'm
not loco enough already ...)

There are over 200 versions of La Cumparsita making it the most popular tango tune ever. It was originally written by Gerardo Hernan Matos Rodriquez of Uraguay as a march tune for his school (I think about 1907 or so). Then Roberto Firpo recognizing its tango potential, arraigned it as a tango. I have never heard it as the original tune by Rodriquez. Has anyone else? FYITango Guy
