Heyo,

First of all (even though Steve was joking) let's leave Portland out of
this. We should all be so lucky to have their scene!

It's worth remembering that the scene with the MOST heterogeneity of styles,
the GREATEST range of abilities, and the HIGHEST standards for and
appreciation of excellence is BA itself. There are plenty of poor dancers
there. There are plenty of good reasons to refuse a dance with somebody -
like, you probably wouldn't enjoy yourself. But when you decline, don't
expect to be asked again! Remember too that when you dance with somebody
you need only enjoy the moment. ...and *unless* you dance with somebody how
can you know the tango in their heart? THAT is what matters most.

Sermon over. ;-)

Father William,

How would one in BA be declined "flat out" to the point of ruining their ego
and thus freezing future invitation *IF* in principle they use eyes for
invitation? So I don't think quoting BA is a valid comparison.

"and *unless* you dance with somebody how can you know the tango in their
heart? "

OK, I accept this arguement as giving the benefits of the doubt.

But let's not rule out the percentile where you actually know that person,
or, you simply prefer dancing the next beautiful tanda with somebody in
mind? For instance, you bet that I will hunt you down next time with a
specifc waltz. I would be very sympathetic to any lovely gentlemen getting
in the way unawaringly, but my answer to them, regretfully, would still be a
no ... :-)
