Hello Tango-L

Can I ask for advice from list members?

Pablo Veron will be in Sydney this coming weekend with
his partner Noel Strazza, and is giving one
performance and a number of workshops. These are all
very expensive and my finances are limited, so before
I spend my money :
1. does he speak English?
2. can he teach as well as he dances?
3. any recommendations for or against any of these
workshops:
beginner tango?
advanced tango?
intermediate vals?
intermediate milonga?

Gracias
Felicia

Hi Felicia,

Only you can determine whether it's too expensive or not. I guess it depends
on what level you are in. Pablo is a very good teacher and if you like how
he dances, he can impart knowledge towards the goal of dancing as he does.
We have proffited from talking his lessons and so have our students and
other teachers as well.
When he was here in Atlanta (twice), he spoke enough English to conduct the
workshops. I don't know how things will be organized and that is very
important for the out come of the workshops. In order to use your money
wisely, you might elect to take either the beginner or the advanced
workshops but not both. The intermediate could conceivably be accessible to
an advanced beginner and certainly be useful for intermediate/advanced
dancers.
If you are a beginner, obviously you'll waste your time & money taking
advanced tango and vice-versa. It's really up to you and your level of
dance. Pablo is a good teacher and I would take workshops from him again.

Thankyou for your replies. As well as those posted
exclusively to the list I was surprised to receive 12
private replies.

Five of these were neutral in tone (typically asking
for further info on the classes). One was positive,
and an overwhelming 6 were negative, some very
strongly so. Politeness stops me from repeating in
public some of the comments that were made.

I'm now not sure what to do. Since I'd like to say
that I have had the experience of Pablo's teaching
(even if it is not a good experience, does that make
sense?) I might take just one class, possibly the
Beginner Tango.

Gracias
Felicia
