In his interview in Tango Noticias, Diego Amorin concludes:

>[T]ango only asks that one be passionate. And in order to be
>passionate one needs only to be human. Perhaps this is one of the
>reasons that has supported the resurgence of tango as a dance
>genre, although undoubtedly as well such resurgence has been
>supported by the necessity of revitalizing a cultural identity in the
>face of the homogenizing tendencies of globalization.

I would submit that people who connect with the passions of tango--which
include but are not limited to sexual passion--put more of themselves into
tango. And for such people, tango is life on the dance floor and life is
tango off the dance floor. For people who find the heart. mind and soul's
expression in dancing tango, it is more than a diversion. And for such
people, practicing to develop the mastery to better express themselves is
nearly as important as breathing. For those who see tango as a diversion,
a chance to interact with others, or to feed their egos, tango is a very
different experience. Most tango communities are made up of both kinds of
invidividuals, and they are likely to take much different perspectives on
dancing an learning tango.
