Hi all,
So out of curiosity, is "La Tablada" about an
actual tablada (cattle ranch), or is it about La
Tablada district in Buenos Aires? Historians on
the list, I'd love to know.
Thanks,
Linda

My answer:

La Tablada: According to Robert Ferris Thompson the tango La Tablada by
Anibal Troilo (1962) refers to the cattle slaughterhouse a.k.a. El Matadero.

There is book called El Matadero written by Esteban Echevarria in 1838, 1851
(same author), and 1874 (by Juan Maria Gutierrez). I have not read this book
but it appears to be a book about very descriptive situations where the
symbols of life and death are played by blacks, who visited the Matadero.

Cheers,

Bruno
