Subject: Tango photographs in the new issue of JAZZIZ

Good evening

This new issue of JAZZIZ (May 2002)
features an article called
"Play for me Argentina" with subtitle
Search the world over and you`ll
find few delights to match the
marvelous sights and sounds
of Bs As.

This coverage and photographs are
coming from Mark Holston who
is a frequent contributor to JAZZIZ
on Latin & Jazz subjects.

( The title on the cover page:
Endless nights in Bs As
is misleading )

JAZZIZ does carry well its motto
"Art for your ears". JAZZIZ is strong
on design and quality photographs.
Same as for this article that holds
seven pages of photographs with
a text on the relationship between Jazz
and tango in the city of Buenos Aires.

Two sentences that I will copy without
adding any comments reads:

"Tango is of European origin,
having evolved from Italian folk opera.
It is the only Latin American style without
any African or indigenous elements "

Just besides a page that advertise the
Montreal Jazz Festival ( June 27 - July 7 2002 ),
Markd Holston adds a list of recent
Argentine Jazz and Tango Albums
that emphasize a strong American connection
with the likes of Gerry Mulliigan, Gary Burton,
Raul Jaurena and Pablo Ziegler.
