Subject: Ageism in Argentina
Although in our earlier visits (pre 1994) to Buenos Aires Al and I were
delighted to see many men dancing with women their own age or older, the
last few times we went very young(and skinny) women definitely were
preferred.
Since I wasn't young when we began dancing tango, unfortunately I've
never experienced that advantage. However a man did proposition me
after a short acquaintance, knowing that I was married and that I knew
he was. When I expressed amused surprise, he said " oh, don't worry, I
like older women". This man, not a dancer but a retired orchestra
leader, composer and arranger for Biaggi, was 3 years older than my
parents, thus at the time 87.
