It is their pareja. (A pareja is the person they are involved with
whether it be
a wife or girlfriend.) As I wrote previous, it would not matter if it were the
milonga or on the street. You don't approach unless you know both people in
the couple. The exception is that they approach you first to give a greeting.

Most people prefer to come to the milongas solo so they can dance with other
people. Our community while appearing large to outsiders is small to us. We
know when it is the wife or the girlfriend. It doesn't matter. Most men only
come with their pareja on Saturday. This is the night where you take out the
person you are with. (Best way ladies to find out if a man is involved with
another woman is to ask him to take you out on Saturday. If he can't
or won't,
then that is your answer.)
