Women sometimes ask me to dance (that is, women who
are strangers or with whom I don't frequently dance).

I virtually always accept. Usually these women ask at
most 2 times a Milonga, which I don't find excessive.
Usually I'm not asked by more than a couple of women
in a Milonga. So it isn't getting "out of hand" as it
was for some of the leaders meantioned.

I do agree with your partner that it is unforetunate
that there is this thought that if you talk to
someone, you'll have to dance with them. That
socializing and dancing "must" go hand in hand.
