I will like to comment some local news . One of the comments will be made again at Tango - A , but I still have no confirmation
1) yesterday night we have an electric & dust storm , with strong winds, heavy rain and now a southeast wind that is making the river flood some places at the south of the city.
I was wondering if it was some kind of message from the tango goblin , and yes it is , it maybe this time the goblin decided to make the storm on a tuesday , a week before of the unofficial opening of
LA TERRAZA !!!!!! at Club empleados Banco Ciudad, street Madero 1599 at Vicente Lopez.
Yesterday night my friend receive a phone message at his answer machine and it says that on tuesday 18th november , unofficial opening as every year will be made .
For those of you that visit Buenos Aires, La Terraza is the loveliest place to know , it is an open air place to dance, a terrace at a Club , with palmtrees , a veranda . Usually every year at the opening , we keep looking the weather , because it is stormy ,. Maybe this time we will be lucky enough :):) I am trying to contact the organizers by phone now.
2) Maybe this is common in USA and Europe, but, believe or not, most of local DJ4s uses CDs and even tapes for the Djing of milongas, instead of MP3 files and computer facilities . But this friday at Circulo Trovador , the DJ Tony "the magician" , maybe will set a date to be remembered, since he is starting with a database with MP3 that is busily arranging this week with technical assistance.
I made a reservation for our tango school this friday with Adriana , the host of the milonga at Circulo Trovador , and in the meantime have some conversation with Tony his partner . He commented he was setting the files ( 6.000 music files ) into a readable access frame, to be able to drag the icons with the mouse , to arrange the tandas by author, composer, year, whatever.
Mark this date, friday 14th november 2003 , it maybe an historical date for tango DJing in Buenos Aires
3) I have a look at one of the traditional tango websites www.abctango.com.ar , and notice it have a refresment of screens and useful information that other sites does not provide, for instance, milongas held on Great Buenos Aires and even Great Great Buenos Aires ( an area of 100 km around the city of Buenos Aires ) . The menu of milongas have an option for city of Buenos Aires and Province of Buenos Aires, to choose
4) This is a very local information, but for those of you that are in Buenos Aires and noticed some posters around the city , that reads" el baile del siglo/the dance of the century" , with a background yellow and blue like the flag of Sweden, dont rush to the swedish embassy to buy tickets... it refers to a footbal match this past sunday beween Boca Juniors ( yellow and blue shirt) with River Plate (white and red) , that end 2-0 in favour of Boca, so all the Boca fans are merciless joking to the River fans (as is my case ) that Boca gave River "the dance of the century", in this context , to "give a dance" means to roll over them all the time the match lasted (90 minutes)
