Subject: Buenos Aires Weather

Find out for yourself by going to www.weather.com and entering Buenos
Aires in the box in the upper left corner of the page. It will give
you the current weather and a weather forecast for the next ten days.
From there you can click on a link to the averages for the current
month and the year. Of course these are AVERAGES and not a forecast.

Generally the worst time to go is January plus the half month before
and after January - the middle of the summer. I personally would not
go any time in December through February. Remember that few of the
milongas are air conditioned, and those that are are likely to save
money by leaving it off. In very crowded milongas the heat generated
by all those moving bodies can be very uncomfortable.

On the other hand, the regular milongas are from 10 or 11 at night to
4 or 5 in the morning, and it cools off fairly quickly in Buenos
Aires. You may want to wear a jacket or sweater for the trip to and
from these milongas. The humidity is relatively low unless there's
been a recent shower. Even in the higher-precipitation times (late
summer and late fall, say March and October) heavy rain is rare, and
rarely lasts more than a day.

Remember that Buenos Aires, though on a large body of water near an
ocean, is on the East edge of the continent. So the prevailing winds
are from the dry middle of the continent. It's also in the middle
latitudes, which means that most of the rain falls in Northern
Argentina and Brazil, not Buenos Aires.

When I went in late November a year ago I was also comfortable at the
popular matinee milongas (3 to 11 pm). The two times I went to
practicas in the middle of the day most everyone wore T-shirts and
jeans or shorts, and we expected to sweat.

As for the winter, Buenos Aires is, as I said, in the middle latitudes
and the average highs and lows for June is 60-40 degrees Fahrenheit.
June is the driest time of year, with less than 2 inches of rain
average. It sounds like the perfect time to go.

You will probably get a lot of anecdotal answers to your question, and
those can be useful. But this is probably the most objective answer
you can get to this question.
