Subject: Enrique Santos Discepolo

Enrique Santos Discepolo, writer, poet, playwright, dramatist, actor,
militant politician, periodist, movie maker has an exposition about his life
and his works at the Palais de Glace in Buenos Aires that will last for the
month of August. This is done at 100 years of his birth and 50 of his death.
(1901-1951).
Posters will tell his biography from March 27, 1901 till December 23, 1951.
It will be possible to see his life in its different aspects with
decorations of his time and many original items such as the piano on which
he composed most of his tangos at his home in San Isidro.His typing machine,
pictures of his parents (he lost his father at age 9, he was educated and
guided by his older brother Armando who was also a playwright), letters,
documents, an old fonola of his property that used to play tangos at the
milongas in the 20ies. and 30ies., theater programs and posters announcing
his playwrights, pens, clothing, carnations that his wife Tania adored and
saved , all this is placed around a typical Cafe de Buenos Aires of the
50ies.
It will be possible to listen to his radio monologs between an imaginary
Peronist oppositor and himself defending Peron.

There will be tango classes, tango shows, lecturers will comment his
writings.

Discepolo tango composer, Discepolo in love, Discepolo movie and theater
director, Discepolo son, brother, friend...

"My life is always some sort of a going and a coming back. I am like a
boomerang in my personality. Like criminals, lovers and debt collectors I
always return" he used to say. With this homage he returns, he was right
once more.

This days at the Palais de Glace in Buenos Aires, an exhibit of the 100th
aniversary of Discepolo is taking place.
In the program that is given at the entrance, there are some words from
Discepolin , from a radio broadcast that
he made in LR3 ,Radio Belgrano, on Nov.24,1947.

I would like to share this thoughts with the tango list
